About Barry

Barry Ewart is singer/songwriter from Leeds who works with a local producer/musician and goes under the name of THE BIG RED FREEDOM TRAIN.

His main musical influences are The Beatles, John Lennon, 60’s Music, Tamla, Soul, Reggae, and in fact most music.

Barry worked mainly in clerical jobs before being the first in his working class family to go to University and ended up working for the University of Leeds at The School of Continuing Education, then at The School of Medicine for twenty years as a Community Education Development Officer.

Barry’s creative outlet and dream has always been music, and he has written and recorded over a 100 songs over the years. 

This collection BARRY’S SONGS are his favourite songs from his last seven CDs: THE LIGHT, A SNOWY SATURDAY IN SCARBOROUGH, THE STORY OF HUMANITY, THE FREEDOM TRAIN, THE LAST HOPE, HITSVILLE LS11, and THE LAST SHOW TONIGHT.

THE BIG RED FREEDOM TRAIN have also released a double single: BE HAPPY, BE LUCKY, BE FREE and TRAFFICKED which was recorded at Eiger Studios in Leeds.

Barry’s music covers diverse musical genres and can range from love songs to social commentary.
